About Nicola
I have recently graduated from the London School of Economics and I am now looking to go into a career in education. I hold a BSc in International Relations and I am now preparing to study for a PGCE in Primary Education.
I have experience teaching in various areas. These include:
- 11+ Entry Exams.
- AQA, Edexcel and OCR GCSE Exam Boards.
- Higher and Standard English Language and Literature for the International Baccalaureate.
In 2016, I organised a volunteer project to provide free homework support and 11+ preparation to students from low income backgrounds. For 2 years, I taught a small group of 4 students covering various areas of the curriculum and I am proud to say this group had a 100% pass rate.
I also have an enhanced DBS Certificate from 2022.

My philosophy is that effective teaching comes from encouraging students to be proactive in their learning. I like to be flexible and tailor my approach to suit each students' unique interests and abilities. A typical lesson in English might include:
- A fun starter activity that prepares students for the lesson.
- An introduction to the study materials using interactive resources such as flashcards, mnemonics and allowing students to make their own study materials.
- Application of what was covered in the class into real exam questions.
There is not a cookie-cutter approach that works with all students so I like to use the free first session to understand what best works for you.

If I don’t understand something I would always go to her for help because she is able to use creative approaches and adapts her teaching style to what I will best understand and she is very patient in doing this!
