About Elliot
I work in an international industry that has allowed me to live in many countries around Europe and Africa. This was enabled in the first instance by my initial degree in French and Spanish. I have full professional and academic fluency in both languages. I've since completed a MSc and I'm just coming to the end of a PhD - so I'm doing some teaching alongside that.
I'm friendly and easy-going, and keen to share my passion for language and help people get over any barriers to confidence. I'm just as interested in the mechanics and grammar of languages as I am in their slang and colloquial use. I've learned over 5 languages, all but one of them from scratch and outside of formal education institutions.
I live in north-east London and get about by bike or car - so I'm able to travel. My working day means my hours are also very flexible.

I'm passionate about language - I'm a big believer that anyone can get up to fill speed in a language by working with things they love in the target language.
That might look like working through highlights of the latest round of Champions League games on French TV, listening through a Spanish hip-hop artist's album, or reading Vogue Mexico's take on the latest fashion trends. Your interests - the things you already spend your time on - will be the basis for our lessons.
These are the best starting points for embedding the language and giving departure points for more technical discussions. Lessons can be rooted in specific challenges from a course syllabus, or in preparation for a specific exam, or they can work through technical competencies independent of formal academic qualifications. Again, this is your call.
I graduated in 2015 with a BSc in French and Spanish, and have since worked in offices in many places around the world, including Paris, France, and Burgos, Spain. When living in other countries I've picked up new languages from scratch, including Yoruba, Luganda, Swahili and, most recently, Amharic. I use the same techniques for my own language learning that I'll work through with you.

Details
Travel costs really depend - if it's somewhere I'd have to drive to, then it'd just be a case of covering petrol. My car is tiny, so that's never very much - factor in about a fiver.
To most places nearby, I'd cycle - so no costs for either of us.
