About Martha
I have more than 25 years of experience working with students develop and improve their math skills. I use a variety of skills and activities to help students learn the necessary skills in math to be successful. I have always had a deep love for math and I love the fact that I have strong math skills that allow me to be able to help others love math too. It is important to me that students develop confidence in math. Math is an essential skill for students to learn. I have always had a love for learning and consider myself a life long learner. I am currently studying and getting ready to complete my master's degree in psychology and professional counseling. I have a bachelor's degree in sociology and a master's degree in elementary educational studies which allows me to be able to teach privately without a certification.

I have many years of experience working with students on their math from basic facts to more in depth concept such as double digit multiplication with regrouping. I use many different strategies and techniques to try to get students to understand what it is that I am teaching them. In addition, I use my games that I have made and currently sell on Teacherspayteachers.com under the store name "Fun-n-games" in which I have more than 1300 games that can be used to reinforce skills. Additionally, assessments will be given at the end to see what student's understanding is after the lesson.
My typical lesson would start off with an assessment to determine the starting point with the student. This would give me a starting point and a goal to complete with the student.
What sets me apart from other tutors is that I use not only assessments. skill sheets and other activities, but I also use games for fun and reinforcement of skills. The games can also be sent given to the students to print out themselves and use and play at home.
My experience over the last 25 uears as well as my strategies can be very useful in helping the students learn new skills.
