About Jessica

Hello! My name is Jessica and I'm a dedicated and passionate tutor with a commitment to encouraging language proficiency and instilling confidence in my students.

With a strong background in various administrative roles as well as several years of academic experience, I bring a unique blend of practical knowledge and professional expertise to my approach.

My philosophy revolves around creating a personalized and engaging learning experience. I prioritize understanding each student's unique strengths and challenges, allowing me to adjust my lessons to meet their individual needs. I firmly believe in the power of interactive and practical learning, incorporating real-life scenarios and cultural context to make the language come alive.

Whether we're delving into the intricacies of business communication, polishing academic writing skills, or engaging in lively conversational sessions, my goal is to provide a supportive environment where my students feel empowered to achieve their language learning objectives. I am committed to offering constructive feedback, encouraging open communication, and guiding students on their journey to language mastery.

Join me, and let's embark on a language-learning adventure together where proficiency meets personalized education!

About the lesson

As an English tutor, my primary goal is to create a supportive and engaging learning environment that encourages the development of strong language skills.

I have several years of academic experience with numerous English classes successfully completed. I also have had the opportunity to expand my business language skills in various administrative positions over the course of the last 8 years.

I believe in a student-centered approach, customizing my teaching methods to meet individual needs and learning styles. Below is an overview of my approach.

Assessment and Goal Setting:
I begin by assessing the student's current proficiency level and identifying their strengths and areas for improvement.

Together with the student (and/or parent), we set realistic and achievable language learning goals.

Interactive and Practical Learning:
I place a strong emphasis on interactive sessions to encourage active participation and enhance language retention.

Real-life scenarios, practical exercises, and role-playing are integrated to make learning directly applicable to daily situations.

Customized Lesson Plans:
I craft personalized lesson plans based on the unique objectives and interests of each student.

These plans encompass a mix of grammar, vocabulary, speaking, listening, reading, and writing exercises for a holistic learning experience.

Cultural Context:
I explore the cultural nuances of the English language to enhance communication skills in diverse settings.

We delve into idioms, expressions, and cultural norms to provide a comprehensive understanding of the language.

Feedback and Continuous Improvement:
I provide constructive feedback on language usage, pronunciation, and overall progress.

I encourage open communication, addressing any challenges or questions that arise during the learning process.

Example of Lesson Plans

Business English Workshop:
Focus on honing communication skills in professional settings.
Covering topics such as email etiquette, business vocabulary, and effective presentation techniques.

Engage in role-playing scenarios like client meetings and negotiations.

Academic Writing Clinic:
Develop skills in academic writing, including essay structure and research techniques.

Provide guidance on proper citation and referencing.
Review and edit sample essays, offering constructive feedback.

Conversational English Sessions:
Facilitate informal discussions on various topics to enhance speaking and listening skills.

Incorporate current events, popular culture, and student interests into our conversations.

Explore different conversational formats, such as debates or group discussions.

Grammar and Language Mechanics:
Break down complex grammar rules into manageable segments.

Engage in exercises to reinforce proper usage of tenses, punctuation, and sentence structure.

Apply grammar concepts to practical writing tasks.

My aim is to provide a dynamic and effective learning experience that empowers students to excel in both academic and business contexts.
