I specialize in fingerstyle, jazz, and blues, which allows me to offer a rich and varied learning experience. My approach is to provide tailored lessons that address the unique interests and skill levels of each student, ensuring that they not only improve their technical abilities but also develop a deep appreciation for music. I aim to create a supportive and engaging environment where students of all ages can excel in their playing and express their creativity.
One of the core elements of my teaching methodology is focusing on fingerstyle technique. I believe that mastering fingerstyle not only enhances a student's technical proficiency but also opens up a wide range of musical possibilities. My lessons include exercises that build finger strength, dexterity, and coordination, as well as practical applications of these skills through various fingerstyle pieces. By learning fingerstyle, students gain a versatile toolset that can be applied to multiple genres, enhancing their overall musicianship.
In addition to fingerstyle, I place a strong emphasis on jazz and blues. These genres are foundational to many contemporary styles of music and offer valuable lessons in improvisation, rhythm, and harmony. My jazz lessons cover essential topics such as chord voicings, scales, and improvisational techniques, while my blues lessons focus on classic blues progressions, phrasing, and expressive playing. By integrating these genres into my teaching, I help students build a comprehensive understanding of music theory and develop their improvisational skills, enabling them to create and perform with confidence and originality.
