About Olive
I have spent eighteen years preparing more than 720 students for success in physics, engineering, and technical careers. My background includes a master's degree in engineering physics and a long career as a professional engineer before transitioning to full-time education. I have designed mechanical systems, electronic devices, and thermal solutions for industrial clients, giving me firsthand knowledge of how physics translates into technology. I have taught in engineering schools, technical colleges, and private tutoring settings, developing expertise in preparing students for demanding technical programs. My former students work as mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, physicists, and patent attorneys. I am known for my technical precision, my professional insights, and my ability to prepare students for the realities of engineering study and practice. I maintain an extensive library of engineering case studies, technical resources, and examination materials. Outside of teaching, I design and build technical hobby projects, mentor engineering students, and participate in professional engineering societies. I believe that physics is the language of engineering and that fluency in that language opens doors to the most rewarding technical careers.

My physics teaching is technically rigorous and career-oriented designed to prepare students for the demands of engineering physics and technical professions. I teach all core physics topics with an emphasis on their engineering applications including structural analysis, electronic design, thermal management, and control systems. For mechanics, I focus on statics, dynamics, and continuum mechanics with extensive problem solving in engineering contexts. Electromagnetism is taught with emphasis on circuit design, electromagnetic compatibility, and signal processing. Thermodynamics and fluid mechanics are connected to energy systems, aerospace, and chemical engineering. I teach mathematical methods for physics including vector calculus, differential equations, and numerical methods with the depth required for university engineering courses. Problem-solving is taught as an engineering design process involving modelling, analysis, optimisation, and verification. I use professional engineering software and simulation tools alongside traditional physics instruction. For exam preparation, I provide comprehensive technical coverage with emphasis on the multi-step calculations and extended responses required for top grades. I also mentor students in engineering admissions, technical interviewing, and portfolio development.
