About Ian
I am a computer programming tutor with 12 years of experience teaching high school and college students. I have successfully supported around 250 learners in developing coding knowledge and logical thinking. My teaching philosophy is to simplify complex ideas and help students learn through practice and real examples. My computer programming lessons focus on understanding logic before memorising code. I teach Java together with Object-Oriented Programming, Data Structures, Algorithms, JDBC, APIs, debugging skills, and basic software design. I adapt to each student’s learning speed and preferred style using visuals, discussions, and hands-on practice. I stay flexible by changing explanations and examples when concepts feel difficult. I motivate learners with small milestones, coding challenges, and real-life scenarios. With empathy and patience, I guide students through errors and problem solving. I also prepare them for exams, assignments, and practical coding tasks that build strong programming confidence.
