About Ted
Earlier, I was the editor for several years of a 25,000-circulation membership newspaper for a Sierra Club chapter in the San Francisco Bay Area.
I have a bachelor’s degree in journalism from San Francisco State University, and an MBA in strategic leadership from the Dominical University of California.
Even before I went into journalism, as a teenager, I studied acting. That taught be crucial insights about storytelling.
I think the best teaching approach is to guide students gently, always listening first and guiding with questions to inspire self-generated insight.

Telling a good story is the best way to make yourself heard, to sell yourself and your product, and to make a great impression overall. What's best of all is telling a story that people repeat for you.
Storytelling is learned with practice and experimentation. The first lessons go into your general needs, abilities, and experience. As we work together, your goals will clarify, and your skills will develop and sharpen.
I start by learning about each of my students. We start from where you are. We try things out. You experiment between class sessions. We find out what works for you and what can be improved. It's a gentle, patient approach.
