About Delanea
I have been teaching for 9 years. I have taught ELAR and Social Studies. I pride myself on professionalism and staying up to date on the latest topics and trends to keep students engaged. I will try my best to incorporate texts that are engaging and fun to read. In my last tutoring session, a student and I read an article on the 6, 7 trend. Before she knew it, she had read over a thousand words. It is important to ensure that my students are reading something that is important to them to increase their reading fluency.

I always hear from students that reading is boring. Well, we're going to make reading fun and enjoyable. I like to use a lot of texts that are enjoyable and exciting for scholars to read. I use an I read, you read approach, that way you can hear a fluent reader read and have the opportunity to follow my reading cadence. I also have different literacy skill activities where we break down words and do things such as word scrambles, word ladders, etc. Reading doesn't have to be boring, reading can be fun and you can learn a lot while doing it.
