About Reuben
I have been playing drums and percussion for the best part of 20 years, studying throughout my childhood at Junior Trinity College of Music. I then retrained as a lawyer, representing vulnerable children and adults in community care and homelessness cases. I am currently pursuing a masters degree in Jazz performance at the Guildhall School. Although much of my current playing is jazz-oriented, I am involved in projects spanning a very wide range of genres, from hardcore punk to free improvisation.

I offer lessons in all styles of music and enjoy helping students achieve their personal musical goals whatever they may be. I am happy to follow the grade syllabus or to take a more individualised approach. Either way, I aim to teach holistically, ensuring students develop a range of musical skills so that they get the most out of playing whatever it is they enjoy.
As a former community care lawyer I am particularly interested to work with those who identify as differently abled or neurodivergent or who for other reasons do not consider that they fit the mould of the archetypal drummer.
I am happy to discuss discounted or pro bono lessons in appropriate circumstances. I can teach from my studio in Hackney or travel to you.
