About Dom

Hi!
My name is Dom and I've been tutoring a variety of subjects as my main source of income since I graduated from QASMT in 2020.
Since then, I’ve completed a Bachelors & Honours degree in Advanced Science, specializing in computational Astrophysics at QUT. I’m now starting my Masters at UQ, also in Astrophysics.

I love science communication/education, and I’ve had loads of experience doing it! I’ve been hired by both QUT and UQ to tutor in various capacities, so I’m good enough for the universities. You might have seen me come to your school to give workshops on math, chemistry or electromagnetism.

I spend an embarrassing amount of my time reading recreationally.
Mostly fiction, but I also love philosophy! Metaphysics is what got me into physics in the first place, and my teaching style reflects that.

About the lesson

I’ve tutored dozens of students in both QCAA and IB subjects, and have an extremely thorough understanding of the STEM curriculum. I’ve also taught Econ, language & literature, and the IB inner core subjects. I have experience teaching from Grade 6 and above, but my focus has been highschool. I’m also experienced in mentoring neurodiverse students.
I’ve worked as a Student Ambassador for QUT: an education/communication/mentorship role. I have recently been hired as a Casual Academic at UQ, which is also a teaching role.
I have taught groups as large as 20 students, (which have extremely cheap prices, per-student) although I am no longer willing to coordinate the groups myself.

I was in the netherlands for most of 2025, on a working holiday, which started when I recieved an offer to work as a part-time private tutor in Higher-Level Maths and Physics.

Suffice to say, I have abundant experience providing elite, personalized tutoring, and the subject expertise to match! Message me if you'd like some references: I have plenty of great ones!

Dom tutored me in high school with maths and science and I honestly couldn't recommend the lessons enough. The way everything was explained made such a difference for me. Using whiteboards to work through questions really helped because I'm a visual learner, and breaking everything down step by step made it so much easier to understand. I never felt stupid for asking questions, and I always left lessons feeling more confident!
Dom isn't just a great teacher but is also genuinely passionate about teaching and gets excited to help you learn whatever you're interested in. That made the lessons way more enjoyable and kept me motivated. It's honestly hard to find a tutor who has both amazing teaching skills and that much passion for helping students.
I would definitely recommend Dom to anyone looking for a tutor! :)

At the moment, I'm charging $90 for the first hour of any lesson, and $70 per hour thereafter. For 3+ hour sessions, I provide 10 mins extra per hour, to take breaks.

I also offer great per-person rates for small group tutoring.

NOTE:
Due to high-demand, for the rest of 2026 I'm only able to accept lessons that take place at the study space I have set up at my family home in Ashgrove West.
