About Josh
In December 2020, I received my Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences, with distinction and completion of an honors thesis. I am currently a graduate student in biomedical engineering at the University of British Columbia.
During my undergraduate degree I was hired by the Student Success Centre as the official Peer Assisted Study Sessions (PASS) leader for Biology 1010: The Cellular Basis of Life. I hosted 129 group tutoring sessions with over 1500 participants over five semesters as leader. Both my academic and tutoring experience make me an effective communicator of difficult scientific concepts.

Generally, I like to begin by introducing the critical concepts and objectives of a topic. This can be followed by the guided completion or review of an assignment, quiz or examination. I am happy to produce a short assignment or activity to help the student solidify difficult concepts. Then I like to challenge the student to prove deep understanding of the concepts by asking them basic and applied questions of material we have covered.
I have a wealth of tutoring experience, as well as educational experience in nearly all facets of biology. I am an effective communicator, very personable and extremely patient with students at all levels.
