About Billy
I am a passionate theoretical physics student that is aspiring to undertake a PhD next year. I have completed two research internships with the University of St Andrews and currently extremely interested in condensed matter physics.
I find it incredibly fulfilling and enjoyable teaching others and building their understanding, therefore I have a great deal of tutoring experience from all the opportunities that I have encountered:
Teaching assistant at Cleveden Secondary School for maths, physics, and science classes.
IELTS tutoring for international students, improving their literacy and articulation in English.
Maths, Physics, Computing, Science, and English tutoring with
MyTutor.
I am very available and more than happy to answer questions that students have for me outwith lessons - I also have a multitude of maths and physics material that I have accrued over my studies, which I am happy to share with students.
In terms of hobbies & interests, I am an avid reader of maths and physics content generally, though I also love to play pool and snooker. Which are great games to actually take advantage of your physics knowledge in order to improve your ability. I also really like playing chess and football.

My primary goal is to develop student's understanding in classes they are finding difficulty with such as maths and physics. Typically, lessons will consist of working through problems together followed by the student working through a problem on their own, explaining their solution - as a means of evaluation in order to see how well they understand how to approach the problems.
The lessons are very flexible, if the student has some demanding question about a particular topic then we can focus on that instead, if the student has some sudden questions or is confused then they are free to interject. These lessons are all about the student, all about building their understanding, confidence, and problem-solving skills.
A key advantage of embarking on these lessons with me is that I am in my 5th year of a physics degree, therefore it wasn't a remarkably long time that I was facing high-school/1st year university exams, therefore I can relate to the student strongly and provide them detailed explanations that served me well on my studies. I am also an avid reader of maths and physics history, and so I love to include interesting stories and ideas that can help ignite interest and fascination in the student.
These lessons are aimed at students that are studying maths and physics from primary school to 1st/2nd year university, however, I am also equipped to teach students in chemistry and computing at GCSE/higher level and below. Additionally, I can help prepare students for university in general as well as students beginning a physics/maths degree. Lastly, I now have a great level of experience in using python and mathematica through my studies and would be happy to teach students some introductory programming as well as how to use these programs in maths and physics.

He has been tutoring international students for their IELTS exams since June 2021. He has also been aiding me in English writing for many of my university essays. I highly recommend him as a tutor, he is extremely knowledgable, an excellent explainer, and very charismatic.
Billy is a great tutor with lots of patience and is very friendly and approachable. He is really good at breaking the problems down and explaining them step by step to help me understand better.
