About Qasim

Hi, I'm Qasim, an online math tutor with more than five years of teaching experience. I hold a Master's degree in Physics and a Bachelor of Education, and math has always been the subject I enjoy teaching most. I work with students from elementary school to first-year university, and I specialize in turning "I don't get it" into "I can do this." I am patient, encouraging and well organized, and I break every topic into clear, simple steps. Parents appreciate my regular updates, and students appreciate that lessons are calm, friendly and never rushed.

How lessons work:
In our first lesson, I find out what you're covering in class and where the gaps are. In each lesson, I explain the method step by step, we solve examples together, and then you practise similar questions until you can do them on your own. I also give regular feedback so you can see your progress.

Send me a message with your grade, province and the topic you're working on, and we can book your first lesson.

  • When and why did you develop an interest in your chosen field?

My journey into Modern and Foundational Studies Tutoring began early on. Growing up, I found myself drawn to the puzzles and patterns within a variety of subjects, from technical and logical fields like Maths and Physics to creative areas like Marketing and Graphic Design. My interest was sparked by Edwin Tan that transformed my perception of learning. This early fascination only deepened over the years, and I knew I wanted to pursue a career where I could both master and share my knowledge across diverse fields with others.
  • What makes you passionate about your subject?

For me, teaching subjects in Modern and Foundational Studies Tutoring is more than just instruction; it's about equipping students with versatile, practical skills. Whether it's understanding complex scientific principles or developing digital skills in WordPress, each subject serves as a powerful tool for problem-solving and critical thinking. I am passionate about these topics because they are integral to navigating both academic and real-world situations. I love the excitement my students feel when they achieve breakthroughs, applying concepts they once found challenging to real-life contexts.
  • What do you like about tutoring? What makes you a "Superprof"?

Tutoring allows me to provide personalized guidance across a wide array of subjects, which is something I deeply enjoy. I love tailoring my teaching methods to fit each student's unique learning style, helping them reach their full potential in Modern and Foundational Studies. I believe what makes me a "Superprof" is my dedication to ensuring students not only understand but also appreciate the value of diverse knowledge. Each session feels like a new opportunity to make learning engaging, relevant, and enjoyable. Seeing each student's progress is incredibly rewarding.
  • Do you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you? Please explain.

Yes, I was fortunate to have had a teacher who made a lasting impact on me-Edwin Tan. They had a way of simplifying complex topics and taught me that teaching is not about showing off knowledge, but about sharing it effectively. Their encouragement and belief in my potential inspired me to follow in their footsteps and support others in diverse areas of learning. I aim to be as approachable and inspiring for my students as they were for me.
  • What are your keys to success?

Success, in my opinion, comes from a combination of curiosity, dedication, and resilience. I believe that anyone can learn and excel if they approach challenges with a positive mindset and are willing to put in the time and effort. As a tutor in Modern and Foundational Studies, I prioritize creating a supportive environment, encouraging questions, and celebrating progress-no matter how small. Consistent practice and a genuine interest in improvement are my guiding principles, both for myself and for my students.
