About Hanz
I am an experienced educator with many years of teaching in Germany within international education, including work aligned to the International Baccalaureate (IB) framework. My background includes teaching students from diverse cultural and academic backgrounds, which has strengthened my ability to adapt instruction to different learning styles and needs.
Prior to teaching internationally, I worked for several years in the United States, building a strong foundation in U.S.-based curricula and classroom expectations. I have since returned to the U.S. and continue my teaching journey here, bringing a global perspective to my instruction.
My experience across international and U.S. education systems allows me to combine rigorous academic standards with supportive, student-centered teaching. I focus on helping students build deep conceptual understanding, confidence, and measurable growth.

Teaching method and techniques
My instruction is data-driven and student-centered. I begin by assessing each student’s current understanding in math skills and concepts to identify specific skill gaps and strengths. Lessons are then tailored to target those areas using explicit instruction, guided practice, visual models, and real-world problem solving. I emphasize conceptual understanding first, then reinforce it through practice and application. Progress is continuously tracked so instruction can be adjusted as the student grows.
A typical lesson plan
Each session begins with a short warm-up reviewing prior skills and addressing misconceptions. We then focus on one or two targeted objectives, such as solving linear equations, understanding variables, or applying geometric reasoning. I model the concept, guide the student through practice, and gradually release responsibility as confidence builds. Lessons end with reflection and a brief check for understanding, allowing progress to be measured over time and goals to be updated.
What sets me apart as a tutor
What sets me apart is my use of data analysis to guide instruction and measure growth. Rather than generic tutoring or homework help, I track student progress over time and use that data to make intentional instructional decisions. Families receive clarity on what their child is learning, where growth is happening, and what skills still need support. My approach builds both academic skills and confidence.
Who the lessons are for
Lessons are designed for students in grades K–9 who need support or enrichment. This includes students who are struggling with foundational skills, those preparing for exams or transitions to higher-level math, and students who want to strengthen problem-solving and reasoning skills. Instruction is appropriate for elementary, middle school, and early high school levels, with lessons adapted to the student’s grade, curriculum, and individual learning needs.
Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the teacher
Mr. Berduo and I first met when he was my 4th grade homeroom teacher, and he quickly became one of the most influential figures in my academic development. His encouragement, especially in mathematics, helped me discover a genuine passion for the subject, one that I continue to pursue today through IB Mathematics AA HL.
He later supported me as a private tutor during my transition from elementary to middle school, helping me maintain strong academic performance and build confidence in my abilities. His ability to explain complex ideas clearly and keep lessons engaging made a lasting impact on my learning.
Beyond academics, Mr. Berduo is patient, caring, and genuinely invested in his students’ success. I am very grateful for his guidance and the role he has played in shaping both my academic path and personal growth. How do you know each other?

Why do you recommend this person?
We can warmly recommend Hanz to anyone who wants to learn English in a friendly and enjoyable way.I am writing to warmly recommend Hanz as a tutor. During the time he worked with my son, he proved to be a very dedicated, patient, and supportive teacher.
Hanz helped my son primarily with Mathematics and English. From the beginning, it was clear that he had a strong understanding of both subjects and a natural ability to explain complex things in a way that was easy to understand. He was always patient and encouraging, which helped my son build confidence, especially in mathematics.
What stood out the most was Hanz’s approach to teaching. He made sure my son actually understood the material instead of just memorizing answers. He took the time to go through difficult topics step by step and always encouraged questions, which made the learning process much more effective.
In addition to his academic support, Hanz was very reliable, professional, and punctual. He created a comfortable and positive learning environment where my son felt supported and motivated to improve.
As a parent, it was reassuring to see how committed he was to helping my son succeed. I can confidently say that Hanz had a very positive impact on my son’s learning and academic development, and I would highly recommend him to any family looking for a knowledgeable and dedicated tutor.Hanz helped me with maths during my MYP year at the International School of Stuttgart. He was very professional but made learning fun at the same time. He greatly improved my grades, and the skills he taught me help me to this day, even in college courses.
I know Mr.Berdup as my tutor who helped me a lot with English literature. He explains things in a very clear and easy way, which made difficult texts much easier for me to understand. What I appreciate most is that he is patient and always takes the time to make sure I really understand the material. One experience I remember is when he helped me break down complex literary analysis for my school assignments, which improved both my confidence and my grades. I definitely recommend him to other students because he is supportive, knowledgeable, and makes learning much more manageable.
Hanz helped both of my sons with math and was a great teacher. Both of my boys really liked him and learned a lot with his help. He is calm, empathetic, and friendly--his rapport with the boys was great. I really appreciated the way he taught them and helped them. Highly recommend!
