About Francis
In 2013, I was appointed as a Student Assistant for the Extended Programme in mathematics at the University of Pretoria. My duties were to plan, conduct tutorials, marking tutorial tests and semester tests. I formed part of the teaching team that taught winter school classes that year. The recorded pass rate was more than 75%. The program had 1100 registered students.
In 2014, I was then appointed as an Assistant Lecturer for the Extended Programme, first- and third-year BSc and Honours in Financial Engineering. The promotion enabled me to plan and conduct tutorials in various modules as well as to perform administration work. I taught the Extended Program on numerous occasions and I also taught in summer school for the Calculus modules which produced more than 80% pass rate. I held this position for six years.

Learning mathematics is a very complex task. My teaching methodology rest on performing numeral examples and exercises after learning each concept. From my appointment as an Assistant Lecturer, I have used different mathematical teaching and learning software such as MATLAB, CAMI, and WebAssign. I am currently a Ph.D. candidate in Mathematics Education at the University of KwaZulu Natal. With the Corona Virus pandemic, I have been tutoring and conducting consultations with students doing Mathematics and Mathematics Education using e-learning facilities.
