About Max
I'm a math undergraduate student at the University of Michigan. Although I'm only a Junior, I'm already taking Ph.D. level math courses. I believe that having a deep understanding of mathematics is essential for effective teaching even when students are learning elementary mathematics.

I think that the most valuable part of math education is getting students to reason through problems themselves. High school teachers often focus on memorizing formulas but I encourage my students to gain a deep understanding of mathematics by guiding them through the core of the topic that they are studying and forcing them to solve problems without looking up what the teacher did in class. This approach not only encourages them to really learn the material but also improve their performance on test since they can adapt to problems which they may not have seen before.
