About Ben
I'm a Year 14 student in Armagh studying A-level Maths, Further Maths and Physics, aiming for Mathematics at Cambridge. I scored full marks (100% UMS) in both AS Maths and AS Further Maths, and I taught myself Further Maths from scratch because my school doesn't offer it. That's exactly what I bring to lessons: I know how to take a topic apart and build it back up until it clicks, because I've had to do it myself with no teacher.
I've won a silver award in the UK Mathematical Modelling Challenge (entered solo against teams of four) and a bronze in the UK Senior Mathematical Challenge, and I'm Head Boy at my school. Being close in age means students ask me the questions they're too embarrassed to ask in class, which is usually where the marks are being lost.

Every lesson follows the CCEA specification and uses real past paper questions, so the time goes on what actually earns marks. I teach Transfer Test (SEAG) maths for P6 and P7, KS3 maths, GCSE Maths (Foundation and Higher), GCSE Physics, and AS Maths and Further Maths.
Each lesson has the same structure. First, a quick check of what the student already knows, so no time is wasted. Then the topic is taught step by step with worked examples. Then timed exam-style questions, marked together, so the student sees exactly where marks are gained and lost. Finally, a short piece of homework aimed at their weak spots.
Parents get a short message after every lesson covering what we did, what's improving and what's next. The first 30 minutes are free, so you can see if it's a good fit. Lessons are in person around Armagh and Keady or online, Monday to Thursday evenings and weekends.
