About Jedidiah
I am a Physics graduate with 3 years of online teaching experience, working mainly with students on the UK curriculum at GCSE and A-Level, qualifications that map closely to what Australian students cover through junior and senior secondary. I teach Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology from primary through to Year 12, and English at primary level for students preparing for NAPLAN.
I wrote and published a science workbook for students aged 8 to 14, covering hands-on experiments in Physics, Chemistry and Biology that students can try at home or in class. I wrote it because students understand Science better when they actually do something with it rather than just read about it. That same thinking runs through every lesson I teach.
My focus is on making sure students understand what they are doing, not just how to answer a particular question. That distinction matters most when an exam puts something unfamiliar in front of them, which it always does.

Before anything else, I find out what the student already knows and where the gaps are. Parents are often surprised that the real problem is not where they assumed. A student struggling with algebra is often missing something from two or three years earlier. Finding and fixing that properly is more effective than working around it.
For primary students (Years 1 to 6), lessons build strong number sense, early literacy, and scientific curiosity. Students preparing for NAPLAN get focused work on numeracy and reading skills in a way that does not feel like test cramming. I move at the student's pace and make sure foundations are solid before we move on.
For junior secondary students (Years 7 to 10), we build real understanding across Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. I ask students to explain their reasoning out loud. If they cannot explain it, they have not fully understood it yet, and that will show up when it counts.
For senior secondary students (Years 11 to 12) in Maths and Physics, whether you are working towards the HSC, VCE, WACE or QCE, lessons are focused on results. We work on method, accuracy, and handling unfamiliar questions under time pressure. We also work on writing responses that actually earn marks, which is a separate skill from knowing the content and one most students underestimate.
All lessons are online via Zoom. Standard sessions are 60 minutes, with 40-minute sessions available for younger students.

Students I have worked with have moved from failing grades to Bs and above. Students who were behind have caught up. Students who were already capable are now getting results that actually show it.
At junior and senior secondary level, knowing the content is only part of the job. The other part is understanding how questions are written, where the marks sit, and how to write answers that capture them. Most students who underperform are not short on ability. They are losing marks they should be keeping.
