For a subject like Maths , One needs a daily basis practice. The target is to complete the syllabus 2-3 months prior to the syllabus of the school in order to secure a good deal of extra time for the child to practice and revise the syllabus to maximum number of times.
Now , the common problem of the students are they move on and starts to forget the previous chapter. To ensure the complete revision , I place an extra 1 hr test on Saturday evening (the timing is flexible as per the ease of the student) . The format of the test is such that 75% of the questions will be from the current chapter and the rest 25% will be from the previous completed chapters. This ll ensure that without much of pressure the student will easily remember the previous completed chapters.
For doubts there can be extra classes on Sunday if the student faces such issues.
At last the most important thing is that I try to create a healthy environment for the student. A student should not be afraid to the tutor ( as children are well grown and they understand the responsibilities). I try to keep a calm environment so the student learns what is taught rather then just mugging up the whole syllabus.
