About James
I look to help people in a calm and welcoming manner which the classroom can sometimes lack. Sometimes a sense of anxiety can prevent a person from asking a question which leads to further misunderdstanding down the line.
I am approachable and try to answer questions in as informal a manner as possible. I aim to give a grounded understanding of the subject matter while also making it enjoyable to learn.
I also attempt, as far as possible, to reduce any sort of authoritative and/or hierachical structure and create a relaxed, peer-to-peer style where students feel comfortable enough to speak freely and without worrying about making mistakes or asking "silly questions"
I am available to help students with any issues they have with numeracy, problem-solving, spelling, and comprehension.

I am a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Manchester where I have supervised multiple undergraduate summer projects.
I have a relaxed approach to learning, allowing the student to ask as many questions as they need in order to overcome any obstacles or issues they face in understanding concepts.
Given my schedule, I am currently available to teach GCSE level subjects. Over the next few months I plan to free up more time and expand my portfolioto include a-level mathematics, english and irish.
