About Sonia
I was born in Moscow, Russia, and moved to the U.S. in middle school. My passion for teaching started early when I began giving chess lessons to younger students. I became fascinated by the process of tailoring learning approaches to each individual, finding ways to make complex ideas click. Throughout high school, I tutored in a variety of subjects, from English to math and science. But it was in college that I truly understood the importance of building a toolbox for independent learning. With hectic schedules and the occasional overslept lecture, I often had to teach myself subjects that initially seemed impossible to grasp. That experience shaped my approach as a tutor—my goal isn’t just to help you understand today’s material but to equip you with the skills to learn anything on your own.
