About Nolan

Hello! I'm Nolan, a recent graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a minor in Mathematics from George Mason University, where I graduated cum laude. With a solid academic foundation and hands-on experience from my engineering projects, I have developed strong analytical and problem-solving skills that I’m excited to share with students.

During my studies, I worked on various engineering projects, including designing a CNC laser engraver, building an Arduino-powered obstacle-navigating robot, and performing computational fluid dynamics analysis. These experiences refined my technical skills in mathematics and physics, as well as my programming abilities in Python, MATLAB, and Arduino, which I now bring to my tutoring sessions.

Beyond my technical knowledge, I’m dedicated to helping students understand complex topics with clarity and confidence. My goal is to make STEM accessible and engaging, whether you're working through fundamental concepts or advanced problems. Let’s tackle your challenges together!

About the lesson

As a dedicated and passionate tutor, I specialize in mathematics, physics, and engineering curriculum, leveraging my background as a mechanical engineering graduate with a minor in math. My teaching approach is student-centered, focusing on fostering a deep understanding of concepts through interactive learning. I believe in making complex topics accessible and enjoyable, which helps to build confidence in my students.

Teaching Method and Techniques: I use a combination of visual aids, practical examples, and real-world applications to illustrate abstract concepts. This not only makes the material more relatable but also encourages critical thinking. I adapt my methods to suit each student’s learning style, whether they thrive on hands-on problem-solving, visual diagrams, or theoretical discussions.

Typical Lesson Plan: A typical lesson begins with a brief review of previous material to reinforce learning. We then introduce new concepts, followed by guided practice where I work alongside students to solve problems. Finally, I assign targeted exercises for independent practice and provide constructive feedback to ensure comprehension. Each lesson is tailored to meet the specific needs and goals of the student.

What Sets Me Apart: My ability to connect with younger students sets me apart as a tutor. At 27, I bring relatability and enthusiasm to each session, creating a comfortable learning environment where students feel free to ask questions and express their challenges. I emphasize not just understanding but also enjoying the learning process, which helps motivate my students.

Who the Lessons Are For: My lessons cater to high school and college students studying mathematics and physics, whether they're preparing for exams, tackling difficult concepts, or seeking enrichment. I also work with younger learners who need foundational skills in math and science.

Let’s work together to unlock your potential and achieve your academic goals!
