About Omar

Hi, I’m Omar! I'm a filmmaker, screenwriter, and graduate of NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, where I earned my MFA in Film & Television. With over a decade of experience working across narrative fiction, documentaries, branded content, and emerging technologies like AI filmmaking, I bring a well-rounded and up-to-date perspective to every lesson I teach. I’ve worked with students of all levels; from beginners exploring storytelling for the first time to advanced creatives refining their craft. My teaching style is clear, practical, and creative. I break down complex concepts into manageable, actionable steps, and I tailor each session to meet your unique goals. As a working professional in the film and media industry, I understand what it takes to turn an idea into a compelling, well-crafted project. Whether you’re looking to write your first screenplay, improve your editing skills, or explore how AI is changing the future of storytelling, I’m here to help you get there. You're not just learning techniques, you’re learning how to think like a filmmaker.

My Approach as a Tutor:

As a graduate of NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts with an MFA in Film & Television, my teaching approach is rooted in real-world application, creative exploration, and individual empowerment. I believe the best learning happens when students feel both supported and challenged. so I tailor each session to meet your unique goals and experience level.

Teaching Method & Techniques:

I combine structured, hands-on instruction with open-ended creative prompts to build both technical skills and artistic voice. My method is visual and project-based; students don’t just learn theory; they apply it. I often use scene breakdowns, script analysis, editing exercises, and real-world case studies from film and television to ground concepts in practice.

Typical Lesson Plan:

A typical lesson might begin with a quick review or screening (scene, script, or clip), followed by a guided exercise (e.g. writing a short scene, assembling a rough cut, analyzing structure), then a discussion or critique. Each session ends with a takeaway assignment or next step; be it a scene to write, a shot list to plan, or an edit to revise.

What Sets Me Apart:

I’m not just a filmmaker, I’m an active director and screenwriter working across fiction, documentary, branded content, and AI-driven storytelling. I bring industry experience, artistic sensitivity, and a deep passion for mentoring new voices. I’ve taught both beginners and advanced students, including those from underrepresented backgrounds and multilingual classrooms.

Who These Lessons Are For:

- Aspiring filmmakers of any level: high school, college, or adult learners

- Film students seeking extra support or creative guidance

- Professionals pivoting into film, TV, or AI media

- Writers, editors, or creatives looking to expand their storytelling toolkit

- Anyone curious about blending traditional film with new technologies like AI

Whether you’re picking up a camera for the first time or refining your tenth screenplay, I’ll meet you where you are and help you grow from there.
