Hi! I’m a math tutor with a Master’s in Education focused on neuroscience and trauma, and I specialize in helping students from middle school through GED and college prep. As a tutor, I specialize in math instruction for students from middle school through GED and college prep levels. I use a trauma-informed, neuroscience-based approach that focuses on reducing anxiety, building confidence, and teaching in ways that align with how the brain learns best. My methods include scaffolded instruction, visual supports, executive functioning coaching, and real-life application to help students connect abstract concepts to their everyday experiences.
A typical session begins with a quick check-in and review of previous content, followed by targeted practice using strategies tailored to the student's learning style. I often include guided problem-solving, discussion, and teach students how to think through problems independently. Lessons end with a brief reflection and an optional challenge to encourage growth.
What sets me apart is my background in psychology and education, including a Master’s in Education focused on Neuroscience and Trauma, which gives me a deep understanding of how stress and past academic struggles impact learning. I provide a calm, compassionate, and empowering learning environment for students who may have checked out in traditional classrooms.
My lessons are ideal for middle and high school students needing math support, adult learners preparing for the GED, and college-bound students who need help with placement tests or foundational math. Whether a student is rebuilding confidence or just needs clear, consistent explanations, I meet them where they are.
