About Lewis
I recently received an MLitt in art writing from Glasgow School of Art and have an undergraduate degree in English, Journalism and Creative writing as well as an HNC in Professional Writing Skills. During the first year of my undergraduate I also studied education which involved a year long placement for which I was nominated for The Donald Christie Prize.
My parents are both teachers and thanks to them I've spent a great deal of time helping out in their nursery and university. I also have a great deal of experiencing working with children outside of education thanks to my time spent working for a local escape room and volunteering with SPLASH, an organisation that provides disabled children with after school clubs and structured days out.

I'm comfortable teaching anyone from their final year of high school to below.
I believe quite strongly that the best way to get students to relate to subjects within English and any form of Modern Studies is to find a way to make the students relate to a subject on a personal level. For example; I find that many students struggle with close reading and I would argue that this is because most teachers don't make students aware of the importance of that skill. Showing students how to apply that those skills to news articles or even social media feeds makes it easier for them to apply those skills to texts and in an exam context. This can be applied to many different ideas, approached and texts within the subjects that I can teach.
