About David
I have been a musician for the whole of my life. I began to learn at the age of 7 when I started lessons with Elfreda Griggs, I studied under Penelope Roskell at University and later with Peter Noke who guided me through CT ABRSM, Dip ABRSM and LRSM teaching qualifications.
I was very active in music making at school and there was only ever one choice for university degree. I am a published composer with BBC credits, as well as being a church organist and choirmaster. I am the musical director of Sacred Trinity Church in Salford and the director of the Flat Iron Choir.
I love listening to and playing Classical Music, Jazz, Rock and Pop. Music, for me, is not so much a career as a way of life and I love to share my skills, knowledge, and love of music with others.

I have been having piano lessons with David for almost 8 years now, and he has taught me so much. Not only does his passion for and knowledge of music of all styles make him a brilliant teacher, but he his also incredibly patient and supportive in lessons. He encourages a holistic approach to learning music, involving theory, history, composition, exercises and pieces of all styles- taught in an engaging and enjoyable way. If you're looking for a piano teacher, no matter your previous skill or future goals, I would recommend David every day of the week! He really has taken me from someone with no musical ability, to being able to pass piano exams, make music with friends, and perform in front of others. His lessons are often the highlight of my week. Thank you David!
I’ve been taking piano lessons with David for the past couple of years, before me he taught my teenage son.
His lessons are structured and varied, he is patient and encouraging and I thoroughly enjoy them and the progress I’m making.
I would recommend him wholeheartedly.David is a kind, supportive teacher and very encouraging.
My pace is slow... and steady. I have finally learnt to be more patient with myself.
I started my lessons in my 60's so some aspects of my learning have been bit tricky, especially sight reading and tense hands.
I am more relaxed now and David's practice plans that break down my pieces to manageable chunks have been a break though.
As a singer David has also encouraged me to use my voice in my learning.
Thank you David for all the knowledge that you have passed on to me over these years.
David is a wonderful, talented piano teacher. He has been teaching my 8 year old son for over a year now and we are so impressed with the progress he has made. David is very kind and patient and my son really looks forward to lessons with him. Thank you so much for everything!

Our boy loves having his lesson each week and really looks forward to it. He has made great progress during this time and it's been amazing to watch. The highlight so far was his performance at a church in central Manchester.

We would highly recommend him to anyone whether they’re looking to start playing piano for the first time, or to improve their skills and progress through the grades.
