About DJ Tears
Self-taught composer, vocalist, producer, and DJ, Phillip Amos Manaka famously known as
DJ Tears PLK, from Seshego, Polokwane. He developed a love for house music from the primary
school age of 12.
DJ Tears PLK music is recognized by South African music legends like Vinny Da Vinci, Lulo Cafe,
Lamize, DJ Fresh, DJ Ganyani, and Chymamusique just to name a few. 2020 his song “I’ll Make You
Mine” became a background song for Dia Roropa show by DJ Lovers SA. Later on, he
became a resident DJ on Diaroropa Lockdown Mix show on Lesedi FM, one of the top SABC
Radio station in South Africa.
DJ Tears PLK went on to work with industry giants (such as Kaylow, House Victimz Tiffany
Rosebud and Rona Ray). Two of his songs were selected by Tim White founder of House Afrika Records
and featured in the Metro FM Awards-nominated house compilation: House Afrika Session 5. In 2021
DJ Tears PLK was featured in the LIMA (Limpopo Music Awards) nominee for the best single category.
Chymamusique featured DJ Tears PLK in his album that won the Best Dance Album in the SAMA
(South Africa Music Awards)
