About Gui
I'm a native-born Chinese speaker with standard Mandarin and a Level 2A Mandarin Proficiency Certificate — the official credential for near-native pronunciation and grammar. I've spent years teaching Chinese to foreign learners, from complete beginners to advanced students preparing for HSK. I know exactly where non-native speakers struggle, because I've watched hundreds of them move through it. My students stay with me because I'm patient, structured, and honest about their progress. You won't get vague encouragement here — you'll get clear correction, steady improvement, and a teacher who takes your goals as seriously as you do. Gui — that's the standard I hold myself to: every lesson earns your trust. If you're ready to learn Chinese properly, I'm ready to teach you.

My approach as a tutor
I teach Chinese the way people actually speak it — through real conversation, not rote memorization. Every lesson starts with a quick review, then moves into guided dialogue and situational practice, and ends with a short recap of what you can now do. I correct gently and explain the why behind each rule, so you build instinct, not just knowledge. What sets me apart is that I'm a native-born speaker with standard Mandarin and a Level 2A certificate, and I've spent years helping foreigners get past the "textbook wall" into natural, confident speech. My lessons are for beginners through intermediate learners — university students, professionals, and anyone preparing for HSK or simply wanting to talk with Chinese friends, colleagues, or family. Gui — my teaching philosophy in one word: patience first, pressure never.
