About
I am a native Chinese speaker currently completing my Master of Laws at the University of Melbourne. With a strong academic background and fluent English communication skills, I am confident in my ability to help students from diverse language and cultural backgrounds learn Chinese effectively and comfortably. Having studied and worked in both English and Chinese environments, I understand the common challenges faced by English speakers learning Mandarin. I focus on building a clear and supportive learning experience, where students feel encouraged to ask questions, make mistakes, and steadily improve. My lessons are structured, engaging, and always tailored to suit each student's level, pace, and learning goals. Whether you're a beginner looking to build a solid foundation, or an intermediate learner aiming to improve fluency or prepare for exams like the HSK, I bring both patience and precision to every session. My legal studies have also trained me to explain complex ideas in a clear and logical way, a skill I bring into my teaching to make learning Chinese less intimidating and more enjoyable. Hi! I’m currently studying for my Master of Laws at the University of Melbourne, and I’m a native Chinese speaker with fluent English. I offer Chinese lessons for learners of all levels, whether you’re just starting out or looking to build on what you already know.
My teaching style is flexible and friendly. I like to get to know my students’ goals first. No matter if it’s for travel, daily conversation, academic study, or passing the HSK exam, and then tailor the lessons around that. I use a mix of materials like everyday dialogue practice, short reading passages, listening tasks, and grammar breakdowns, depending on what works best for you.
A typical lesson includes a quick review of what we learned last time, new vocabulary and sentence structures, then lots of practice through speaking or interactive exercises. I always make sure you’re comfortable asking questions and learning at your own pace.
What makes my lessons different is that I can clearly explain tricky Chinese grammar or tones in fluent English, which is super helpful if you’re used to learning in English. Also, coming from a legal academic background, I’m quite good at structuring lessons clearly and logically — especially useful for adult learners or students with academic goals.
