About Kenza

Bonjour! I'm Kenza, a French-speaking tutor currently studying Pharmacy at the University of Brighton. I grew up speaking French and attended a French school, so the language has always been a big part of my life.

Outside of uni, I enjoy hiking, especially finding new trails and going on walks in the countryside. I also play the piano, which is something I've enjoyed for a long time. I like spending time outdoors, discovering new places and trying new food. I'm also a big fan of films and enjoy a good movie night when I'm not out and about.

I'm quite easygoing and enjoy meeting people from different backgrounds. I love a good conversation and getting to know people, so I'm looking forward to meeting you!

My teaching approach combines structured learning with practical activities, so that students understand the language rather than simply memorising vocabulary and grammar rules. I adapt each lesson to the student's level, learning style and goals, whether they want to improve their conversational French, strengthen their grammar or prepare for an exam.

How I structure my lessons:

I usually organise my lessons around a particular objective. We might begin with a short vocabulary or grammar exercise to review previous material, followed by an explanation of a new concept and guided practice. I then use activities such as translation exercises, role-play, reading comprehension and short writing tasks to help students apply what they have learned. I also revisit difficult topics regularly so that knowledge is retained over time.

For speaking practice, I use questions and everyday scenarios to encourage students to express themselves without relying too heavily on English. For grammar, I break down difficult concepts into manageable steps and use examples to show how grammatical structures work in context. I also encourage students to keep a vocabulary list of useful expressions, connectives and idioms that they can gradually incorporate into their own speech and writing.

AQA A-level French and DELF preparation:

Having achieved an A* in AQA A-level French, I am familiar with the demands of the specification and the importance of developing all four language skills. For A-level students, I can help with essay structure, translation from English into French and French into English, listening comprehension and speaking practice. We can work through past-paper-style questions, practise building more sophisticated arguments and focus on accuracy, register and the use of varied grammatical structures.

I also studied *La Haine* and *No et moi* as part of my A-level course, so I understand the importance of analysing themes, characters and social issues rather than simply summarising a film or novel. I can help students organise their ideas, develop interpretations and support their arguments with relevant examples.

For DELF candidates, I can offer practice with the four main skills: listening, reading, writing and speaking. This can include working on written messages, describing situations, expressing opinions and practising the kinds of spoken interactions required at different levels.

My experience and who I teach:

My lessons are suitable for beginners, intermediate and advanced learners, teenagers and adults. Whether you are learning French for school, an upcoming exam, travel or personal interest, I will adapt the content to your needs.

Lessons typically last 60 minutes. I aim to create a friendly, encouraging environment where students can ask questions freely, learn from their mistakes and make measurable progress. My priority is to help you become more independent, accurate and confident in French, one lesson at a time.
