About Sophie
Ciao! I'm Sophie, your dedicated Italian tutor and passionate guide to Italy’s language and culture.
I have a deep love for languages and my homeland, and I find real joy in helping students not just learn Italian, but fully immerse themselves in its rich culture and traditions.
With a degree in Psychology and a Master’s in Mental Health Studies, I bring a deep understanding of how people learn and overcome challenges. I'm highly empathetic and skilled at tuning into each student's individual needs, learning style, and pace, creating a safe, encouraging space where mistakes become confident steps forward.
I have extensive experience supporting neurodiverse learners (including ADHD, dyslexia, autism, and more) with a structured yet flexible approach that plays to strengths and reduces barriers.
My lessons combine authentic cultural immersion - real conversations, music, food, traditions, and current events, with clear, personalised strategies for steady, enjoyable progress.

I’m a passionate and patient language tutor with native fluency in Italian. Drawing on my personal experience with GCSE and IB curricula, I specialise in guiding students through GCSE and IB Diploma exams, but I also love working with beginners starting their language journey, as well as all levels, including intermediate students looking to improve fluency and confidence.
With 2 years of one-on-one tutoring experience, I’ve taught across a wide range of ages and levels: primary school children, secondary school students tackling GCSEs and upper school/IB learners. I would also love to help adults improve their proficiency and fluency in Italian - whether for travel, work, cultural interests, or personal enjoyment.
My approach is flexible, empathetic, and inclusive: we adapt pacing, methods, and materials to suit how you learn best, always focusing on building strengths and reducing barriers. No matter your starting point, I meet each student exactly where they are and scaffold their progress step by step towards their personal goals.
Every lesson is fully tailored to your individual needs, strengths, learning style, and interests. I incorporate a balanced mix of written work, oral practice, reading comprehension, and listening skills to develop well-rounded proficiency. I aim to speak Italian throughout (with clear explanations and support as needed) to immerse you in the language and rapidly improve your listening and comprehension. We apply concepts to real-world examples - current events, films, music, travel scenarios, or topics you’re personally passionate about - so learning feels relevant, engaging, and fun.
Lessons are typically 1 hour long, with flexible online sessions.
