About Jay
Hello! My name is Jiwhan, and I’m a native Korean speaker, a U.S.–South Korean dual citizen, and a practicing physician (M.D.) in the United States.
Having lived in both Korea and the U.S., I understand the challenges of learning a new language from both perspectives. My fluent English allows me to explain Korean grammar, pronunciation, and cultural nuances in a clear and easy-to-understand way.
I’m patient, approachable, and committed to creating a comfortable learning environment where students feel confident asking questions and making mistakes. Whether you’re learning Korean for travel, work, K-dramas, K-pop, TOPIK, or simply personal interest, I’ll tailor each lesson to your goals and learning style.
I look forward to helping you build confidence and enjoy the process of learning Korean!

Learning a new language should be practical, enjoyable, and tailored to your goals. Whether you’re a complete beginner or looking to improve your fluency, I’ll create personalized lessons based on your learning style and pace.
As a native Korean speaker and a U.S.–South Korean dual citizen, I can explain Korean grammar, pronunciation, and cultural nuances clearly in fluent English. My experience as a practicing physician has also strengthened my communication and teaching skills, allowing me to explain even complex concepts in a simple and structured way.
Lessons can focus on:
* Everyday conversation
* Reading and writing (Hangul)
* Korean grammar and pronunciation
* Travel and business Korean
* TOPIK preparation
* Korean culture and etiquette
I believe the best way to learn a language is to use it confidently, so my lessons emphasize practical communication in a relaxed and supportive environment. Whether your goal is to travel, work, study, or simply enjoy Korean culture, I’ll help you build confidence and achieve steady progress.
I look forward to helping you on your Korean learning journey!
