About Kevin
Hi students,
This is Kevin, originally from China, and now living in warm Califorinia. Mandarin is my mother language, while english is the second.
As of today, I have an engineering bachelor and a MBA degree. I have been always an excellent student after born, and I'm still learning, different language and culture, and gaining some professional licenses or certificates. I got new license or certificate every year, to make myself more knowledgable about this lovely world. I hope you, my students, are also as curious as I am, not just about mandarin but also about this living world.
What I do for entertainment, I like swimming, jogging (at night), playing basket ball and pingpang (professionally). Besides, I like traveling around world, been to many of countries, and I'm still exploring United States (when I got some idle money and time).
After traving between differen part of the earth, I got a funny perception, which is:
"Westerners (Americans and Europeans) is soooo different with Easterners (Asians), that makes them 2 different species!"
So, reach me out and let me show you how different we are, and also help you to explore the magical language, Mandarin, as well as this world.

-For a mandarin beginer:
I'm gonna teach you starting with basic chinese words (we call them characters).
Remember when you were a toddler, how did you learn english from the very beginning? Yes, that's right. No phonetics, no vocabulary, no grammar! There was only one thing you needed to put in your small brain, which was the sound (pronunciation) of a word or a series of words (sentence).
So, my point is, I'm gonna teach you, my student, firstly with the pronunciation, by marking the words you wanna learn with PINYIN, the phonetic symbols we used in China. They look like and sound like very similar to english letters, therefore it will be easier for you to learn and memorize.
Further more, you are the one should tell me, what words you wanna learn. You can say, for instance, I wanna learn the words used when traveling, or making orders in a restaurant, or maybe the names of all kind of foods. It is totally up to you!
After you got an idea of what you wanna learn, I will be responsible to make a list of these words with PINYIN above each word.
-For senior level learners,
Basically, I will only need to help you practise more and more, by talking and listening to you, and sometimes assigning you a homework, like a short essay in Chinese.
From this point, what I'm gonna teach, really based on your perticular needs. Whether you want to practise more on speaking, listening or writing, will make a difference.
Anyway, I will make some slides materials, depending on your needs of learning.
