About Valeria
I am a native Russian speaker, and graduated from Voronezh Sate University, one of Russia’s top-notch universities and research centers. I possess a B. A in teaching English as a second language, and I also received an M.A. in Linguistics.
Over my more than 15 years in teaching, I have trained people of all stripes, ages, proficiency levels and backgrounds for all kinds of career and personal goals: for communication with foreign partners, to improve their grades at school, or to pass university entrance exams. I work as a language instructor at various language schools, centers and companies in Washington DC area where I gained a lot of experience teaching Russian, and cross-cultural awareness to U.S. government employees.

For me, each new student is a source of inspiration that propels me to new heights. While teaching, I rely on not only my extensive experience, but also try to keep up to date with the latest textbooks, methodologies, and other tools for teaching foreign languages. I have an outgoing personality and am flexible when it comes to adjusting my teaching style and homework to each of my student's individual needs. I have experience with students of diverse ages, backgrounds, and language proficiency levels.
My teaching approach is comprehensive, and includes all the components of language: phonetics (working on correct pronunciation), grammar, vocabulary, listening comprehension, reading, and speaking.
