I am from Moscow, Russia and I have been giving Russian language lessons to students in London for the past 2 years. Recently my student Rebecca, from Oxford University, successfully passed her Russian exam and got her Masters Degree in Linguistics.

I have a BA degree in Linguistics from the Moscow State University, a BA degree in PR from University of Colorado at Denver (USA), and I have worked over 15 years at international PR firm in London. I use my experience working with media (newspapers and TV) to provide the best materials and variety of avenues for my students to gain confidence in Russian language. At our first session I assess the student's needs and targets and then build an individual plan. At the lessons, we work with a mix of materials - video, audio, written text, play and drama to build the student's comprehension, writing and listening skills. We discuss topics from newspapers and we also work with tasks and the vocabulary from your university's lessons. Not only will you improve your Russian, but you will also build your knowledge about current Russian affairs - modern life, culture and politics.
Here are some activities, Rebecca, a Master's student at Oxford University, was doing:
detect key words in the sentence; listen to a text and answer questions;listen to audio (watch a video) and retell the story in your own words; describe a painting using a set of words; revise the vocabulary of Science and Technology, from university; a chat on the topic: "A Man in a modern city. Your solutions for people to stay in tune with nature.”; work with verbs in future past and present; define the tense of the verbs in the sentences; write a 1 page essay on Space, i.e. your opinion about the subject, including Russia’s role in world space.. using a recent article from a Russian newspaper (provided);summarise paragraphs into one sentence using hint words., learn a role of a character from Cherry Garden, a classical Russian novel, and act it out, etc
