About Hamna
I’m a recent graduate in Natural Sciences, with concentrations in Chemistry and Physics. I developed a passion for tutoring while helping classmates, younger students, and family understand complex topics and seeing their understanding and confidence grow inspired me to keep teaching. As a dedicated tutor, I tailor each lesson to match every student’s unique learning style to help them feel supported, capable, and motivated to succeed. With a calm, patient approach, I encourage students to see challenges as opportunities for growth. I work with students from Kindergarten through Grade 12, offering clear explanations, active learning strategies, and a focus on building strong foundations. My goal is to inspire confidence and make learning a positive, empowering experience for every student.

I provide personalized tutoring in English, science, math, French, and more to support students in achieving academic success. I work with students from Kindergarten to Grade 12. The techniques my classes involve are active learning, where students engage with the material through problem-solving and discussion, and Socratic questioning, where thoughtful prompts guide them toward the answer. Each lesson will be tailored according to the student, but will roughly follow this structure:
1. Check-in for review or clarifying previous doubts
2. Goal setting for the day
3. Teaching content
4. Practice
5. Review
What sets me apart as a tutor is how I tailor each lesson to match a child’s unique learning style, making sure they feel supported and confident. With patience and encouragement, I help students view challenges as opportunities to grow and assist them in building resilience and curiosity.

Best in town. I needed french lessons, as a beginner I was very nervous but Vanessa was so patient and nice. She made me feel very comforted and I was welcome to ask as many questions as I wanted and she answered them all. Highly recommended.
My daughter takes French lessons with Vanessa who is a great teacher who tries to engage her in the lesson through story books and activities. She is also very patient when my daughter is struggling, especially with pronunciation. Totally recommend her :)
