About Brooke
My name is Brooke and I graduated from Carmel College in 2025. I will be studying nursing at AUT from 2027 after briefly studying biomedical sciences at UOA. I am happy to tutor all chemistry year 11 and below and most level 2 and 3 chem internals, all the level two externals, and the level 3 structure and bonding external. I like to think I am a calm, relaxed and friendly person. During high school I absolutely loved chemistry, but it still took multiple explanations before I really got some concepts, so I know what strategies help ideas to click! I had the BEST chem teacher and have learned so many valuable tips and tricks from her, especially when it comes to exam approaches. Tutoring appeals to me because I genuinely enjoy seeing concepts finally fall into place and I think that although chemistry will always require hard work, there are some great approaches out there that can make chem so much more manageable.

Thriving in NCEA Chem is possible! I am happy to teach all aspects of NCEA Chem, with my favorite being levels 2 and 3 structure and bonding external. In my lessons I will use a mix of visual explanation, helpful approaches to exam style questions, spaced repetition, helpful mnemonics (that simplify lengthy paragraphs into short cues ensuring you get in all the info you need for full marks), and patient explanation (because chemistry can be hard and learning deserves patience!). I am happy to work on individual sections of chemistry curriculum that are more challenging, as well teaching exam strategy and giving feedback and guidance on practice papers. Whatever your goal is, I have tried and tested tools inspired by my high school chem teacher which can help you get there!
