About Nora
What kind of experience do you have? I have a B.A. in Music Education. I have been teaching Music and German in the UK since 2009. I've worked as a drums/guitar teacher for the Arts Academy ((concealed information) As a performer, I play in bands, ensembles, plays, TV shows and adverts. Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate? Yes. I also have a First Aid Certificate and Paediatric First Aid Certificate. Where and with whom did you train? 2008: Mozarteum Salzburg & Tyrolean Conservatory: B.A. music education-drums and percussion. 2012: Greenwich University-M.A. Filmmaking. Music Workshops: e.g. Mark Schulman, Ruud Wiener, Fernando Paiva, Jasmin Kolberg, Jojo Mayer, Hakim Ludin, Nils Rhower. Arts Academy-Fun learning Music. Hi, I'm Nora, a Percussion/Drums/Marimba teacher originally from Austria. Which subject(s) do you teach? I teach drums/percussion/marimba/music education. Do you want to: Play percussion instruments/drums/snare drum or marimba, find or develop your rhythm or want to get your children (or yourself!) in touch with (early) music education? +Good to know: I also teach at the Music Complex in Deptford. +Good to know: I have a marimba at my place. +Good to know: I can advice you on quieter drum options for your home. +Good to know: I also offer music lessons in German. If you are interested in German lessons, please go to my German section. Tell me about your qualifications/experience 2001: A levels in German, Maths, Latin, English and Psychology. 2001 & 2009: Acting Degree 2008: B.A. Music Education - Voice and Instruments - Percussion Instruments from Mozarteum Salzburg. 2012: M.A. Cinematography and Post Production/Filmmaking from Greenwich University. I have been living in London for 15 years and have been teaching 100+ private students since then. Please see my performer résumé here: (concealed information) How much do you charge? I charge £50 per lesson (60 minutes). I also offer 30 minute lessons. If you need to cancel our lesson, please cancel 24 hours before, otherwise I need to charge for them. Where do you teach? Depending on where you live at your place, at mine (acoustic drum kit with muffled heads) or at the Music Complex in Deptford (play as loud as you like). POST VIRUS UPDATE: I offer all my music lessons via Skype as well. Please let me know if you have any questions regarding Skype. When are you available? I'm very flexible, so I'm sure we can arrange the perfect time and day. Which ages and levels do you teach? I teach everyone from 3-100. I highly recommend Nora who has been a very personable, flexible and patient German conversation teacher to me for the past year. She creates a very pleasant and easy going environment to practice speaking German, and also understands when other commitments mean that I need to re-arrange lessons/frequency of lessons.
Nora has been teaching me and my daughter German for nearly two years. My daughter wanted to study for a German GCSE independently because it was not offered by her school. She has made amazing progress with Nora - I'm impressed with how much she can now read and understand. I'm enjoying my lessons and my confidence has improved hugely. Nora is great at tailoring the lessons to what I need, whether that is grammar or conversation.
More recently, she has started teaching my younger child, (10) too. He looks forward to the lessons and his confidence in speaking has already improved. I asked him what he likes about the lessons and he said "everything!" She also teaches my youngest son (7) guitar. She really responds to his interests and he has made amazing progress both in playing and theory.
My son has been having German tuition with Nora three years. We started after a change of German teacher at his school. He has since regained his confidence with German. He really enjoys Nora's style of teaching and decided to take his GCSE in German with Nora as his teacher rather than at his school.
Really great tutor. Nora is very flexible which was important to me as I work full time. She explains everything in a clear way and is very patient. I feel like I have learned a lot in the few months.
