About Ashley
Hi! I am currently a Child Nursing student at King's College London.
I am someone who is extremely diligent, motivated and compassionate. I've always loved helping people (hence the future career in Nursing) and want the best for everyone. As a result, I can promise you that I will do my absolute best to help you improve your Biology knowledge in every way that I can.
The stress and pressure that comes with school and exams are very heavy on us students. As I am fully aware of this, I will try to make my lessons lighthearted and fun while productive. I think it's good to stray away from traditional teaching methods such as when a tutor/teacher talks and students only sit and listen.
From taking the IGCSE and IB exams myself, I realised that learning all the content does not guarantee you a good grade, neither does revising for countless hours. I learnt that familiarising yourself with the exam paper (e.g command words like compare and contrast, describe, explain + format) and being smart with how you revise is also extremely important. Therefore, in addition to teaching you the content, I will also try my best to help you best prepare for the exams, thus teaching all the tips I wish someone had taught me earlier.

IGCSE and IB Biology tutoring!
As someone who recently took the IGCSE and IB exams, I understand the pain, stress and struggle. After many many days of breakdowns and tears while studying, I managed to score the highest grade in both IGCSE and IB HL Biology. With my lessons, I hope to help you achieve the grade you want and (hopefully) with fewer tears than me.
In addition to teaching you the content you need to know, I will also share my notes + resources (e.g textbooks, workbooks, past papers, question banks, summary sheets) and tips for revision + approaching exam questions I wish I knew earlier into my IGCSE and IB journey.
I am extremely patient with my students and will always be open to any questions. You never have to worry about asking any "stupid" questions with me because I probably wondered the same thing at some point. Even if I didn't, I would never judge you!! Learning is all about asking questions about things you don't know and I love to encourage questions in my lessons.
My teaching will also always be student-focused as I know students have different learning styles which need to be accommodated. I also understand that learning can be so boring at times, especially if it isn't a subject you're interested in. To help make this learning experience better for students, I love to incorporate different teaching methods e.g videos, diagrams, powerpoints in addition to my verbal explanations. Although I will pre-plan my lessons for the topic(s) you want to cover, I will always try my best to adjust my teaching methods to accommodate whichever style you prefer! If a certain teaching method isn't working for you, please don't hesitate to let me know :)
I will teach according to the syllabus/specification and encourage you to try past paper questions to consolidate what you've learnt in the lesson. You never have to worry about getting a question wrong or not knowing the answer in my lessons because it's all about learning. I often encourage students to use this as an opportunity to identify their weak points so that we can work towards improving them together!
