About Will
Will Richards is a versatile percussionist with a career spanning orchestras, jazz, musical theater, Latin music, contemporary classical music, rock, pop, and more. He has performed in multiple productions on Broadway, including The Lion King, MJ, and A Beautiful Noise, at Carnegie Hall, with the National Tour of On Your Feet! (the Gloria and Emilio Estefan Musical), with the 2022 Texas Festival Orchestra at Round Top, and he won second place at the 2022 Modern Snare Drum Competition. Will is an alumnus of the Manhattan School of Music, where he received a Presidential Scholarship. His teachers included Christopher Lamb (Principal Percussion, New York Philharmonic), Duncan Patton (Principal Timpani, Metropolitan Opera), Kyle Zerna (Percussion/Timpani, New York Philharmonic), She-e Wu (Percussion Soloist), Rolando Morales-Matos (Percussion, Lion King on Broadway), Wilson Torres (Percussion, MJ on Broadway), Michael Folker (Percussion, Chicago Philharmonic), James Ross (Percussion, Chicago Symphony), and Jeremy Smith (World Percussionist).

Will teaches a wide mix of percussive subjects, including classical percussion, drum set (all styles), keyboard percussion, and world percussion/hand drumming. He works with all ages and any level of prior experience. No matter where your percussive goals are leading you, Will is ready to help you achieve them with an exploratory and fun approach!

Perfect! He is very patient and an amazing teacher!
Perfect! Will is a great tutor, is patient and warm and has tailored my sessions and curriculum to my specific interests. It makes the lessons very engaging and accessible. Not to mention he’s an extremely talented player. I highly recommend him.

Perfect! Although he is young, he is still an amazing percussion tutor. Definitely developed my timpani skills and taught me how to strengthen my left hand which made it very improved. I would 100% recommend taking lessons with him if you’re looking to play marimba or timpani

My daughter took percussion lessons from Will throughout high school. She improved so much with his help, giving her the confidence to tryout for and succeed in achieving more select positions in her high school music program. Will's teaching style is so positive and she liked that he kept lessons fresh—moving forward with new pieces and exercises fairly quickly. We highly recommend Will.
Will is a fantastic percussion teacher. My 13-year-old has progressed tremendously in snare drum and marimba in just four lessons. Will explains concepts clearly and concisely, and teaches solid percussion skills very effectively. We feel extremely fortunate to study with such an amazing teacher and would highly recommend him.

Will is an awesome percussion teacher! He goes above and beyond in every capacity! He's been teaching my son various percussion instruments for the past 7 months and I've seen his playing improve exponentially. Beyond his superb teaching, he will send you an email after every lesson detailing the things that was covered and what you should work on for the next lesson. Truly a class act! I'm so happy we found him. Highly recommend!!!
Will is an amazing teacher, he makes things very easy to understand. He’s patient but also will push you to do your best. He will look at every little thing you do and he’ll do his best to polish it out. He is also well versed in all things percussion, whether that is keyboard, snare drum, hand percussion, drum kit, and any other axillary percussion. I would highly recommend him as a teacher.
