About Lucia
I am a recent Miramonte High School graduate, heading to New York University in the fall as part of their Core Liberal Studies Program. I am a former AP and Honors English student, both classes I passed with an A+ and enjoyed thoroughly. Some on my favorite subjects include: poetry, creative writing, and (timed or traditional) essay writing.
- I have been tutoring for the last 4 years in English, and have helped hundreds of students
- I have been an active tutor and teaching assistant at my local middle school for the past 3 years
Through my work I’ve been able to assist many students in scoring high scores on the English and Reading portions of their ACT
(I have also tutored in Mandarin, World History, and Geometry)
I like to approach my teaching with an open mind. I believe every student is unique and when it comes to English writing and reading, interpretation is is half the battle. Tutoring for ACT/ Test prep differs from tutoring for creative writing or traditional classroom based classes, I pride myself in successfully doing and enjoying both as well as working closely with students in order to obtain the knowledge and practice they seek. I love English and believe every student should have the opportunity to learn.

I am extremely familiar with high school level essay writing and test prep having just graduated from high school this past June. As a tutor I have worked with students grade levels 6th through 12th in anything from traditional essay writing and creative writing to ACT Test Prep and College Application Essay writing. I like to teach the basics and then depending on the student(s) personalize the tutoring experience based on what they're looking for or where they need improvement. Depending on the subject, writing is often up for strict or loose interpretation and I love working with either, whether it's traditional or testing style strict interpretation, or creative loose interpretation. I'm outgoing and understanding, and overall love working with other students to deepen their understanding of the English language and reading/writing and interpreting various works or their own pieces.
