About Alicia
I hold a Master's in Teaching English as a Foreign Language. I have taught academic writing, ESL (English as a Second Language), and business writing for students at several universities in the United States and Spain for 13 years.
In addition to teaching, I work as a writing consultant and editor and I have designed a course in teaching English through art. My skills include research work for a United States government ESL program conducted by Brown University, performing as a Cambridge examiner for the British Council, and implementing level tests.
I have published several articles and given speeches at ESL conferences on learning English. I am also a member of APABAL where I have published an article and given a speech at the 2018 congress.
I can help you in all Cambridge exams, IELTS, TOEFL, EOI, literature, business writing, composition, or research papers for undergraduate and graduate students. Since my specialty is writing, I can help you in all aspects of writing and college writing tasks (essays, reports, articles, formal letters, reviews, and business writing). I can also help you professionally with your resume and cover letters.

I help my students to build solid vocabulary not just with words, but with idiomatic expressions to sound like native speakers. I correct fossilized pronunciation errors and pay attention to individual errors so that the student can self-correct himself/herself. I prefer student-focused learning where the student is the protagonist and the teacher is the guide.
My methodologies are the Process Approach, which is a step-by-step learning process, and the Bottom Up Method, which focuses on the final goal at the beginning of the learning process.
I always suggest my students extend their learning experience outside the classroom because learning a language does not only take place in class; it extends outside the classroom. I will give you the tools to succeed!
