About Joey
I am a first year Psychology student at UEA, specialising in Social Psychology.
I am a friendly and resilient individual who enjoys the process of teaching and to build a professional connection with my students. This allows the student to seek help without the fear of being looked down upon and to ensure they fully grasp the learning material. In my free time , i engage in reading, music and weightlifting.
My background in psychology can benefit your learning experience with my understanding of cognitive processes by tailoring approaches to explaining and teaching.
I have achieved grades 9-8 in all GCSE sciences and has achieved a B in A-level mathematics. Having also experienced online learning in year 12 due to the pandemic, I have learnt from my teachers and the experience on how to curate an enjoyable environment online.
Additionally, having experienced many styles of teaching over the years, I have established my own way of teaching and have been seen efficient with teaching younger years at my school.
My approach to teaching is to introduce the subject as a do-able challenge and not something that is beyond reach. It is important as I teach to remind students of a growth mindset and to provide constructive criticism, WWW - what went well , EBI - even better if.

My method of teaching is to ensure my student understand their studies with efficient and tailored explanations. I strive to find a way of explaining that can be understood by the individual pupils and discard the idea of one explanation that fits all.
Typical length of my lessons ranges from 40 minutes to 1 hour depending on the age of the pupil as attention spans across different ages vary.
I have experiences as a tutor at my secondary years at the homework club to navigate younger pupils through their studies.
My lessons are aimed for students at GCSE levels and below, ages 11-16.
