About Oliver
I have exceptional academic credentials. I earned a major scholarship to a top UK public school, won the Experimental Physics Prize in the national British Physics Olympiad competition, earned a triple first in Engineering (Masters) from Cambridge University, and a DPhil (PhD) in Engineering from Oxford University, during which I won a best paper prize at a top-tier international conference (rare for a student).
Since then I have enjoyed a successful career as a Research Scientist, specialising in Computer Vision. This has involved writing a great deal of software, in the programming languages C, C++, Python, MATLAB and Julia.
I am a parent myself, and have interests in psychology and growth mindset, which inform my holistic approach to tutoring. I have a valid Enhanced DBS Certificate, which I can show upon request.

I give pupils 1-to-1 assistance with existing assignments, aiming to understand their difficulties, and help them to overcome them. Lessons are for children in school year 5 to 13 (ages 9 to 18), and typically last 1 hour. I aim to be compassionate, patient and supportive, and take a holistic approach to tutoring: I will teach the material, but also assist the learning process by encouraging a growth mindset. I am new to tutoring, so offering a discount rate to start with.
