About Leo
I am a graduate who loves a variety of literature, from Old English poetry to modern feminist novels. Working with students to understand a text and develop new readings of it is my favourite part of the work. I try to maintain everyone's enthusiasm for reading.

When teaching English Literature, I believe that the transferable skill of close reading is paramount, especially when tutoring for exams that will contain an unseen component. Wider reading is an important part of this, as it helps students to develop a sense of where a text sits in a broader canon--a sense which is lacking in today's mainstream curriculum. I tailor the classes to the student's needs, and if the course allows for it and a student has literary interests, I am willing to take a leaf from Oxford University's book and take those individual interests into account when planning sessions. With Philosophy and Classical Civilisation, this approach fosters a familiarity with a broad range of texts in the subject, leading to a stronger understanding.
