About Sophie
I'm Sophie, a twenty year old history undergraduate studying at the University of Oxford. I have a huge passion for history and hope that through my tutoring I can nurture this in my students, as well as providing them with the tools to succeed. I hope to inspire my students to be both confident in their speech and academic writing, which is why my tutoring sessions will be a relaxed, comfortable environment in which all questions and contributions are highly encouraged!

I believe that passion is a crucial tool for achieving success. I have always been incredibly enthusiastic about history, and I would love to pass this fervour on to a younger generation of students. In addition to inspiring a love of history into students, I am both engaging and relatable in my teaching style. Students are receptive because I create a comfortable and friendly environment where they can ask questions and express their ideas fully without judgement. I am also very adaptable in my teaching, trying out multiple methods of learning and revising until the optimum one can be tailored to that individual student. Ultimately, I am willing to go above and beyond to ensure they succeed.
The tutoring I have engaged in before saw me build a strong relationship with my tutee, where I was able to identity her strengths and weaknesses- the latter of which I regularly revisited to ensure the information I’d taught her was consolidated. Her work appeared to benefit from this regular one-to-one tutoring and I knew she appreciated having my support and guidance.
I have had a lot of participation in working with children of different ages, so I would be more than willing to tutor at any level, but GCSE and A Level would be ideal.
