About Alastair
I am currently a PhD student at the University of Birmingham studying main-group chemical systems and their applications in catalysis. My love of chemistry started at A-Level and despite personal challenges, I never gave up on my goal of studying chemistry. I received a 2:1 MSci (Hons) degree from the University of Birmingham where I excelled at practical and organic chemistry.

I prefer a more relaxed approach to teaching, encouraging students to reach the answers themselves with minimal input from myself to help cement their knowledge. I have used these techniques to educate undergraduates in laboratory practicals. I aim for my lessons to take up to one hour, any longer than this I find can lead to a lapse in concentration. I am able to teach at GCSE, A-Level, or degree level (depending on the modules in question).
