About Keyya
I am a junior in high school with a strong passion for science, especially chemistry. Throughout my academic journey, I have taken 5 honors classes, 7 AP classes, and 2 IB classes, maintaining an unweighted GPA of 3.9. I have received high A's or A+ in all my science courses, including biology, honors chemistry, AP chemistry, and AP computer science principles. In the near future, I will be taking honors physics, AP biology, AP environmental science, and AP computer science Java.
Beyond my academics, I am a member of a competitive ballet team and have been dancing for 12 years. I founded a women's rights and gender equality club at my school and serve on the leadership board of our leading mental health club. I am also involved in HOSA and have participated in Connect Me tutoring for over a year, providing free tutoring to low-income families. Additionally, I am the department head for my school's drama club and a member of the National Honor Society.
Outside of school, I enjoy reading, hiking, traveling, baking, and savoring good food!

As a dedicated AP chemistry student, my goal is to help high school and middle school students grasp complex chemistry concepts while fostering a love for the subject. I believe that my own success in school comes from my passion for learning, and I want my students to feel the same excitement for chemistry.
I focus on explaining the details behind concepts, emphasizing the "why" instead of just the "what." Many students struggle because their teachers often skim over important information. By exploring the reasons behind certain principles, I help students solidify their understanding. My ultimate goal is for students to be able to explain what they’ve learned in detail and even teach it to someone else, which indicates a strong grasp of the material.
A typical lesson plan includes the following components:
Warm-Up (5-10 minutes): Each session begins with a brief review of what we covered in previous lessons to reinforce retention and ensure students don’t forget important concepts.
Initial Explanation: I start by introducing the new topic and providing detailed explanations.
Supplemental Materials: We may watch videos or use other resources that I find helpful for visualizing concepts.
Guided Practice: Together, we work through practice problems to apply the concepts learned.
Independent Practice: Before ending the session, I ask students to complete a couple of problems on their own and explain their thought process to me, almost as if they were reteaching the lesson.
These lessons are primarily designed for high school and middle school students studying chemistry.
