About Vivienne
I love teaching and I love my subject. Passion and encouragement are two things you will get with me in spades! I have met and worked with a lot of students who couldn't stand English. They thought it was hard, nonsensical and 'a waste of time' (their words, not mine!). But English is essential to progress in life- reading and writing are two skills you are going to need regardless of what field of study or work you choose to go into. Aside from all of that, English is a blast! It's a chance to explore ideas, challenge your beliefs and articulate your thoughts, experiences and emotions coherently. And wouldn't everyone like to be heard? Doesn't it sound exciting to hear and learn about other viewpoints? I want to work with you to get the best out of you in English. It can feel daunting, but it will also be so rewarding.

My main technique is working with the pupil to understand their strengths and weaknesses, and working towards small, achievable goals each session to deepen their understanding of the English Language and Literature GCSE Specification. I have mostly worked with the AQA Specification; however, I know the other exam boards and what examiners are looking for. Typical length of a lesson is an hour; however, there can be flexibility around this. I hold a Postgraduate Certificate in English and am a qualified teacher in the UK. I have worked with pupils of all ages from Year 7, all the way to GCSE Resit and A Level.
